H.R. GIGER
H.R. GIGER was born in Chur, Switzerland in 1940 and counts artists Jean Cocteau, Alfred Kubin, and author H.P. Lovecraft among his early influences. Giger's phenomenal airbrush paintings have gained international acclaim through their appearance in his popular Necronomicon art books.
He received an Academy Award for his terrifying designs in the film Alien and has had major exhibitions of his work throughout Europe, America, and Japan. In addition to being a painter, Giger is an accomplished sculptor and furniture designer. He has created an elegant fantastic bar in his birthplace of Chur, Switzerland, based upon his unique "biomechanical" aesthetic. His latest film design project was the MGM science-fiction thriller Species.
